40 Days of My Body: Day 15, Straw+Camel

October 3, 2009

in 40 Days

I’m on a quest to spend 40 days working on my body. I am committed to exercising, keeping a food journal and being more aware of ways I use (and abuse) my body.

I’ve been feeling all cocky, confident and lately, even foxy–until Thursday: AARGH!!, I hit my first major crankfest around this 40 Day challenge–Sunny added two short stretching routines to my daily workouts. They take about 20 more minutes and I have been doing them (with hostility). I am already starting out every day at 5am and the extra 20 minutes feels epic. Having a major tantrum around it and wonder what’s getting your panties in a bunch? Is there something you know would make you feel better if you committed only 20 more minutes to it? What is it?

I am not alone in my quest. The roll call is at 16 people (including me)! Some are getting organized, others giving up fast food and some are simply breathing!
Tanya Geisler–40 days of hatha yoga
Petra Korn–on her body
Tia Reddy–yoga and exercise.
Alisa Bonsignore–working out and food conscious.
Suzie Powanda–no fast food or beverages.
Julie Rorrer–training for the Austin marathon in Spring.
Emma Alvarez Gibson–some bit of exercise, every day.
Joyce Black–21 days without caffeine/general detox.
Carabunga is rocking 40 days of hardcore productivity.
Paula Trucks-Pape and her husband: 87 Days of exploring their passions
Monica Kingsbury: 30 days of the Candida diet to deal with her sweet tooth
Jack and LisaMarie Rowell: 30 days of extreme health (alkaline diet) (starting 10/15/09)
Diane Sherry Case: 3 weeks of walking
Cindy Morefield: 21 Days of 30 mins/day cardio

What are you doing for YOU today? Tell us in the comments!

I totally get the "20 minutes" thing! There are so many coaches, personal trainers, nutritionists, therapists, etc. that say, "It just takes 20 minutes"... but if we did all of the things these people suggest, that's a lot of 20 minute things to do :)

But at the same time... it IS just 20 minutes. And it's good to pick something rather than nothing. What would I do for 20 minutes to improve my life? Strength training. I walk everyday and eating more healthy foods and watching portions but still can't feel my muscles. Thanks for the inspiration.

HA! I'm with you on the 20 mins perspective--sometimes it's a breeze, sometimes it's overwhelm. I'm on your side with the strength training. The work I'm doing with Sunny is really showing results--I feel and know I am stronger. If you want to check her out, email her at SunnyRiggs@yahoo.com. Even though I played sports and did a lot of conditioning, she is teaching me loads.
  • I joined Jenny Craig today and the gym tomorrow!!!!! You go Dyana! Way to inspire!

20 minutes to organize (if I would actually do it) would be great. I can't seem to get myself together to start the next phase! But usually if I have 20 minutes I do something else. Do I not organize so I don't get to do the fun stuff, i.e. work on finding my passions? I need to get over it and get up at 5 and spend 20 minutes organizing. You can exercise, I'll organize. But I'll be cranky too. (Counting down: 3 days to starting the 87 days...)

you know--Paula, whenever you start, you start. Is there room to give yourself the space in these two days to be kind to yourself and simply allow the Passion project to start on Day 1? If the answer is NO, and you need to start now--then pull out some paper or a digital recorder or your computer and stop reading this and record just THREE things that will get this project started right!
  • Thank you for the laugh!
