Jenny: I am SO moved by your team's commitment! I'm really amazed and proud of you all. Isn't it AMAZING how quickly our bodies adjust. I had been having some sleep weirdness, too, before I started this challenge. Now, I'm OUT and sleeping deeply. It's also so much easier to get up at 445a now--I'm raring to go (that one took me about a week to adjust to). YES: asking folks to check in with you is really effective, especially when you have folks in your life who will do it! You know you are living right if you have solid people around you.

Alisa: way to raise the bar! Back-to-back challenges. You kick so much booty. I can't wait to read your work. How many years have you done the http://www.NaNoWriMo.org process? Do you write first thing in the morning? Love the tips, too.

Paula: are you going to join Alisa?

Paula, some extra tips for you: always do the minimum 1,667, but try for at least 2,500 to build yourself a cushion. Life does inevitably get in the way. Also, don't reread and edit anything; just plow through. Stuck? Create a random plot tangent and see where it leads you. What you should have at the end is quantity, not quality. Editing comes later. :)

Writing is also one of my passions (I'm the 87 days of passion gal). I've thought about doing the Novel Writing Month for awhile, but have always been put off by the sheer number of words. But now that you say the daily total is 1667, it seems more doable. Maybe this year is the year.

And doing things early in the day is a key for me too. But procrastination over coffee is a strong deterrent...

Every November, I do National Novel Writing Month: 30 days, 50,000 words of fiction. I am a *horrible* fiction writer, but I think it's really good to stretch my brain and force it to do something new. So my goal for getting it done is to break it into manageable daily chunks (1,667 words daily) and get it done as early as possible so that it's not looming over my head all day long. Because nothing in the world makes a task feel worse than the dread of anticipation.
The same holds true with the exercise on this 40 Day challenge. I'm much better off doing it early in the day, not because that's a particularly good time for me in terms of energy level, but because I can start the day with a feeling of accomplishment.

Good morning Dyana!
You are inspiring Atlanta and I can honestly say after having no alcohol and exercising the past three days I have been sleeping like a baby!!! I usually wake up around One AM and watch tv for a couple of hours. This alone has inspired me to continue!
Ok, how do I integrate that "thing" I need to do into my daily life? I go public! I tell everyone I know what I need to get done and ask them to check in with me. I put it smack in the middle of my "to do" list every day until I'm tired of looking at it!
Have a great day! Jenny
