You are tooooooo cute! But when I played beach volleyball with the triple A players, they told me you can't always go 100%. Sometimes you have to go 60% or 70% but you have to listen to your body. when I ran 7 miles everyday in college, the days I took the pressure off and said to myself just run as far as you want and as fast or as slow as you want were the days I totally kicked it. Today I am going to swim laps like a fiend. You are an inspiration!

Julie: get your self OUT THERE and do it for YOU. Are you tracking progress and in public via FB or your site? I can say that for me, going public is THE thing right now. Bob: of COURSE your "light" day would wilt a camel--way to rock it. Know that your particular version of intellectual/communal/artistry is a complete inspiration. Keep it rolling.

well.......the day is still young so i've not done much. went to ralph's to buy b'day card for father-in-law and postage stamps. went to smart & final for hot dogs for buster (the canine). within the hour will head to ladera senior center for (yipee) yoga. later to echo park's dream center to load up avalanche with food for st. john's church's homeless feeding program; and then to the valley to celebrate father-in-law's 89th big day. later........evaluate student papers. in-between this light schedule, will work on a photo project (subject: san gabriel mountains) and new (as yet untitled) poetry collection. so, it's just another day in the llife of btb. cheers.

Goooooo Diana!!!!! You are a powerhouse. To answer your question, what gets me going? knowing that there are other people doing it too, like you! Some days when the bed is super comfy and you just want to curl back up, you just try like heck to remember how you'll feel once your done. Plus, if I don't get out there and do it this normally non-exerciser won't be able to finish the Austin marathon I'm training for in Feb. :)

Welcome, Paula! Thanks for continuing to follow/celebrate this process. Join right in--don't wait! I'm on your side and I know that one-day-at-a-time works. Yesterday, I called in some reinforcements--an Austrian friend of mine surprised me with (count 'em) 5 lbs. of chocolate--WOW, right in time, too;) I did NOT bring it home--I took it all to a neighbor's house and asked her to hold it for me (and then thought of knocking on her door early this morning to get some!) Use what you KNOW works for you, even if it's for a few days at a time. Let me know how I can help.

So glad you sent e-mail re: your newsletter (that there isn't one) because now I'm getting your feed and was happily surprised to see you making your 40 day commitment in a public way. Wow! I've been struggling off and on to get to 40 days of fitness too. The first 10 or so are fairly easy "wow, this is new, I'm so fired up"), but then something always comes up (work, work, and then sometimes work or dirty dishes). I've tried reminders on Outlook, setting a specific time for exercise every day, creating motivational music samplers, but nothing gets me on the bike and on the weight bench like knowing some other real person is doing it too! Or should I say real PEOPLE, since so many others have committed too. If I had a regular blog I'd send you a link, but that's another commitment that keeps getting back burnered...still, I'm inspired to do the 40!!! I'll keep tuning in! Thanks!

How do I keep going? I tell myself, "No one / nothing is going to make you do this. It's your choice." That gets me out of victim mode (yes, I can even imagine myself the victim of my own resolutions!) and for some reason makes it easier to choose what I really want. Doesn't always work, but it's the thing that works most often for me.

Congrats for another day of getting it done!
