Finish It! Friday with Leigh Morlock

March 4, 2011

in Finish It! Fridays,Finishing Stuff

Every week on Finish It! Friday, I invite groovy folks to talk about finishing what they started. We keep it short & sweet. I capture their answers on video. And you get a direct sight line into their mind's eye. It's the same three questions, every time: 1. Do you finish everything you start? 2. How do you get unstuck when you're having trouble finishing? 3. What are you really, really, REALLY good at? This week, we've got Leigh Morlock of An American Girl In Cambodia. I suddenly felt my shoulders drop when Leigh said, "sometimes you only know if an idea is good after you get started." So true. Can't see the video? Click here. More of Leigh's tidbit morsels (perfectly portioned for tweeting) are:
I have a new-for-me idea, it's not paralysis, it's incubation; Hey, Stuck! I know you are here, I'm just going to let you do what you need to do; In Cambodia, they shun new ideas by calling them "Cannot Impossible," I refuse to accept that; and Lean into Stuck, don't resist it; it's not going anywhere.
Are you struggling to finish what you start? Are you a masterful finisher? Or somewhere in between? I'd love to play with you! Join me as a Finish It! Friday guest by emailing me at: info@dyanavalentine.com Please leave your finishing struggles, tips and stories in the comments.

Leigh is one of my biggest inspirations to push through my own “Cannot Impossible” moments. Great advice in this video!

Leigh is VERY good at not accepting “cannot impossible” – she’s opening doors in Cambodia.

I love the encouragement to honor the wisdom of Stuck. I can hear it now saying…”I got this, Claire.”

“Lean into Stuck, donu2019t resist it; itu2019s not going anywhere.”nnI don’t know why, but that just delights me in ways that I can’t explain. Thanks!

She is So good at it, Delia. I wonder what Can Possible motion you are taking today–I’d love to hear about it. Mine (continued from epic tech fails last week) is the theme of Upgrade–in every part of my life/logistics that need it–so far it’s been equipment repairs/replacements. It seems to be leaking into upgrading my schedule (weeding and adding more Fun stuff). We’ll see where it goes!
